Stall Ideas

We haven't talked too much about how we may want our stall to look, but I think we should try going down a similar path to the way we have made our holders. Recycled where we can, muted colours and a rustic home made style. Possible blackboard sign or something. We need to logistically look more into how we could make a stall.

Marbled Clay Tealights

Although we found in our first experiment that the clay was a bit too expensive to work with, I haven't yet figured out an alternative so I just used a smaller amount so they were cheaper to create, although still expensive if we were going to sell them at around one dollar.

Refined Concrete Tea Lights

Theres are the final concrete models i made that i will present with my group at the paramount. We all agreed as a group we would do one material each so we would have more different looking tea lights and more to choose from. I painted one of the tea lights to a lighter colour as it was too dark. These concrete tea lights are great for inside and outside your house. They can be used in the bathroom for relaxation, in the bedroom or lounge. Pretty much anywhere you want. As i was taking photos of these another place these concrete tea lights could go was outside as they have a very rough rustic feel to them and would be perfect outside too.

Process of Concrete

This was my creative process on how to make concrete tea lights. It was a lot harder than i thought and a lot more time consuming. I went and bought cement and got some sand the way i made the concrete was mixing those two elements together then adding water. I tried to figure out what to put the cement in so i thought plastic cups as i would be able to get the concrete out once they have set. 

I made candle shaped holes in the cement for the candle to sit in once they had all set. Some did crumble and break but some worked out really well.

Refined Glass Designs:

After creating a few initial mock ups, these are the 5 designs I will show at the presentation at the Paramount, they use a variety of different glass jars and a variety of materials including newspaper and lace for decoration. I took my inspiration from the designs I have already posted. The taller jars seem to be a little harder to light, but after leaving these candles burning for a number of hours in the holders, there doesn't seem to be any huge fire risk. E.g none caught fire or got too hot. My one issue may be the wire hanging design, as the wire did get a little hot after a while.

More glass ideas

I have been looking into quick and inexpensive ways at decorating jars, using coloured glasses I already had at home would be a cool and interesting way to make candle holders, as is using pages from books or sheet music and a surrender of the jar. To top up my stash of jars at home I have also been looking on trade me for mixed assorted jars that are as cheap as $1 a jar.
