Basic Tag Designs

Here are some basic tag shapes, these would hang off each of our jars to make them appear more as a product and add value to the jars. We are yet to finalise exactly what will be on the tags yet, whether it is information on the making of the jars, safety information or maybe environmental facts? Or it could even be just our logo. Since we haven't finalised a logo yet I have just written "Ecoglow" where one would be.

Although I would love to one of the more complicated shaped tags, I am worried about cost and the sheer amount of tags that I will have to make. At the moment I am thinking that they won't be able to be much larger than 2cm x 2cm and will most likely have to be square shaped.

They would most likely be printed on brown paper and attached around the jar with twine.

Stall Ideas

Trying to narrow down some ideas of what we really want the stall to look like, combining the structure, brand name 'ecoglo' and style!

Firstly a simple structure consisting of a solid rectangular base supporting two vertical pieces of wood on each side to support the sign, where instead, we will have our group name as opposed to where it says 'Lemonade' in the images below.

In the sketches you can get an idea of the concept we are wanting to achieve. We plan to use wood to build the stall and other recycled or environmental materials, note the colour palette below. We also plan to use a calico/gauze fabric and black paint to create our brand banner and maintain a rustic feel.

Mood Board for Ecoglo- How we want our banner to look at the market palace

I created a mood board highlighting what we wanted our banner to look like at the market palace. Our name Ecoglo needs to feel rustic and have pure vibes. This links to our product great as we all have Eco friendly candle holders that are rustic and natural. The Concrete holders i made is very environmental which can go inside and out whatever your heart desires. I want to have a long rustic fabric banner at the market palace either fabric or cardboard. In the mood board a creating the vibe that our product gives to the audience and what type of colors and things we want to use. I want to use a Eco friendly material for our name and banner. Maybe spray paint it to look Eco friendly and very rustic/ homemade exactly what our product is- Home made. I think the fabric sort of a brown light brown color will work really well as it reminds you of trees and wood with a rough sketch of the type will make it feel rustic and homemade a little messy too. I want a rectangle banner or either squares- What you see in the mood board above clearly shows the type of idea we are going for. At the market day we may use wood box type things to make a stand and put our candles on it. This will make it feel very welcoming and homely- exactly what we want at the market palace for our customers.

Brainstorm of names for product and type explorations on chosen name

Each of the people in our teams had one task to do over the week mine was to brainstorm and choose a name and maybe think of ideas how to design it also. I wanted a very pure simple name that will go along way. The name had to go with our Eco friendly rustic idea. I came up with Ecoglo as i thought it was a very Eco friendly name its very rustic and abit authentic too. I wanted to use Eco as it matches our theme of Eco Tea lights and it is exactly what we doing and it really explains our product in a short sentence. The glow links to light and makes it simple which i wanted. I took out the W of glow as i thought it didnt need the W it works well without it. I think our name really works with our product it links well and has a good ring to it.

Just posting the overview from the meeting with the facilitators in terms of concerns with the concept and the going about of the stall and what we can actually use and do:

In terms if set up on the building they're still sorting out how to use the structure.. At this stage probably unlikely to have anything that we can add onto, unless it's freestanding- so I was thinking in this case we could look at the idea of just using the table as the base of the stall and having posts on either side that we can use to hang say sticks of wood/wire at the top to hang the candles from or fairy lights to add the the light if we are going to cover the stall/ make in more enclosed.


Stall size wise, we pretty much we can get whatever size stall we want, especially seeing as ours is smaller we will probably get something that is a little bit more secluded.
Currency wise they are looking at the idea if stamp cards as means of a currency, you get 5 to ten in each card and you get the card by gold coin donation No Eftpos

For the tags, would need to make a relatively simple and easy design as would be making roughly 50 -75 tags, these are just some inspiration I found involving basic product tags.

Overview From Class Today:

Was really good to meet with Anna and Shannon today and talk about how our project was doing. Their feedback was:


PRICE:

That we were undervaluing our product at this stage and we could consider charging over 2 tokens for our holders as they would be too desirable at this stage. An idea was also brought up that we can charge different amount of tokens for particular types of holders, due to their price of production and amount of candles per holder. The idea that we could have a sale period during the end was also mentioned, this would help us get rid of any unwanted stock for one token per holder. This was a good validation from the tutors that our product was actually something valuable and wanted by customers. We still could look into getting more feedback from our peers as what is the amount of money they would pay per holder.

QUANTITY:

They thought that the amount of holders we had planned to make was not enough, With the demand we could expect from our product and the fact we have to sustain our stall for three hours meant we may have to make more than 5 more each. They suggested the quicker and easier ones to make e.g Natalie and Shems glass designs could be the area where we expand and make a higher number of products. Ideas like wrapping book paper round the jars and cutting different designs out of them is a quick and cheap way of producing a lot of products. Our only issue is finding a high number of jars. We will be expected to make at least 10 more each (15 per member of the group) with potential for even more glass designs.

STALL PRESENTATION:

Before our meeting we discussed the aesthetic and possible layout of the stall. We all agree it should be something rustic and home made looking and done in neutral colours like brown, cream and black.We needed to make our stall a dark space so we hoping to hang black sheets on the side of the stall to use to stop light from coming in the sides. The back of the stall would be against a wall and the front of the stall would be a table with the holders on it. We wanted to have a group name and logo/image of some description on the front of the stall below the table, we are still struggling with a name but would like something that plays off light/candles and involves the word eco in some way, it needs to be short and catchy. On the table we would need to tier our display holders a little, instead of making shelves which would take time we were thinking of displaying the holders on old books to add to the rustic feel, we would also have fairy lights and incense or oils to add to the mood of the stall.

SAFETY:

Obviously one of our biggest concerns with a project like this is safety. The measures we are putting in place in terms of safety are:

Having a large number of our holders with the flames not exceeding the top of the holder.
Having the holders where the flame does exceed the top in the middle of the table in obvious view away from peoples clothing and the sides of the stall.
Having the jar holders with the flame inside on the edge of the stall nearest to the hanging sheets.
Giving out safety tags with the safety information about the product with the product.
Having a fire extinguisher at the stall at all times.
Having at least 2 members of the group at the stall at all times.
Only have a maximum of 20 - 25 candles lit at a time, the other would remain unlit under the stall.
Testing each of our products at home for an extended period of time to test safety.

We have met with the health and safety team and discussed all these points with them and they seem relatively happy to let us proceed.

From here we have all taken different jobs to work on how the stall will work, as well as making more of our product.

Michelle & Shem - Stall presentation. Sorting out the way the store will look, what the holders will sit on and how it will be laid out, sourcing light and incense materials and finding out how to make the space dark.
Matt - Logistics of making the stall, sorting out a table for the products to sit on and a way the sheets will hang at the side to make the stall dark.
